Our Frequently Asked Questions.

  • Can I apply for a sponsorship Licence for my business?

Yes, you can apply for a Sponsorship License if you plan to sponsor employees that meet the GOV.UK job suitability requirements.

  • How much does a Sponsor Licence cost?

The cost of a Sponsorship License depends on the size of your business. For small or charitable sponsors, the application fee is typically £536. For medium or large businesses, the fee is usually £1,476. Excluding the cost of any Certificate of Sponsorships and Visa Surcharges.

  • What is a Home Office sponsorship licence, and why do I need one?

It is an approved licence authorised by the UK Government that allows you to hire Skilled Workers from overseas, through the assignment of Certificates of Sponsorships, and therefore sponsoring them to work in the UK. You need a Sponsor License to hire workers requiring a Visa to remain in the UK.

  • How long does it take to get a Sponsorship Licence?

After submitting the relevant submission sheet and supporting documents as part of the online application process a decision should be made within 8 weeks. You can make a priority service request and get a decision within 10 working days for an additional charge of £500. However, this service is limited to 50 requests a day on a first come basis.

  • What's involved in the employee BPSS pack?
    1. Identity verification (passport or ID checks)
    2. Right to work checks (visa or work permit)
    3. Employment history verification (references or previous job details)
    4. Basic criminal record check (to ensure no unspent convictions) Completing the BPSS ensures that you are hiring individuals who are legally eligible to work and meet the security standards required by your organization.

  • What is a Certificate of Sponsorship

It is an electronic document that confirms Sponsorship has been offered to an employee requiring a business visa to work in the UK.

  • What happens if my Sponsorship Licence expires or is refused?

Sponsorship Licenses do not need to be renewed as of April 2024, so they should be valid for at least 10 years, unless surrendered or revoked.

  • What happens if my Sponsorship Licence is refused?

We make sure your company is eligible to be a Sponsor Company before recommending you apply for a UK Visa Sponsorship License. Ensuring you have completed the submission sheet correctly and all relevant supporting evidence has been submitted, so refusal is unlikely, but we would help with the resubmission of documentation or additional information required until your Sponsor License has been approved by Home Office
